Saint Lucia Commends the Kingdom of Morocco on Peace Building Efforts in the Libya Conflict

The Government of Saint Lucia lauds the efforts of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the perceptive leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,  in the hosting of the two rounds dialogue sessions between representatives from the Tripoli-based High Council of State and the Tobruk-based Parliament, from October 2-6, 2020 and in August 20th , 2020, in the city of Bouznika, Morocco, through which His Excellency Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has laid the ground for both parties to reach a critical agreement on key issues that had previously contributed to the political unrest in Libya. 

This intervention by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, represents the country’s commitment to promote the values of democracy and peace in Libya and the surrounding region, and to commence the efforts to restore political and social stability in North Africa and beyond to the Sahel and Sahara region. 

This newfound peace and security will help foster an environment conducive to freedom of expression, safeguarding of human rights and the continued development of the Libyan people, as well as its future generations.  

The Government of Saint Lucia applauds His Majesty and his thoughtful diplomatic policy, for this significant initiative in promoting a peaceful solution and bringing an end to the Libyan conflict.
