STATEMENT

By

Honourable Stephenson King

Acting Prime Minister

On the health condition Of Sir John Compton

September 5, 2007

Prime Minister Sir John Compton returned to the island today at about 10:35 a.m., from Martinique where he was undergoing medical attention since Saturday 1st September.

Sir John, who was rushed to Martinique for further medical evaluation and attention, returned with multiple organ failure, meaning his organs are failing.   His doctors consider his prognosis to be poor, while he continues to receive life support.

Sir John is hospitalized at the Tapion Hospital where his family and doctors are closely monitoring his condition.

At this bleak moment in our Nation’s history, it is anticipated that St. Lucians will rise above the threshold and pay homage to Sir John and his family.

The Nation will be kept informed of his condition and any developments in due course and on a timely basis.

I thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
